How to Host a Princess Birthday Party on a Budget

Who says you need a royal budget to throw a princess-worthy birthday bash? As a mom on a mission to make their daughter's dreams come true, fear not! We've got you covered with creative ideas to host a magical princess birthday party without breaking the bank.

The Royal Invitation

Invite fellow princesses to the grand affair with enchanting DIY invitations. If you are not using CANVA yet, I HIGHLY recommend it for all things creative. They have templates you can use or you can build your own from scratch. From there, I just print on cardstock paper from my own printer! Perfection!

Enchanting Decor Fit for a Princess

When I start planning for a party, I plan MONTHS in advance. Not necessarily that I am this over-achiever, getting things done with plenty of time, but because I start looking for CLEARANCE and GARAGE sale items IMMEDIATELY that fit within a theme. I also look around my house for things I can repurpose! This lace tent that was already available (below) was an amazing addition to the party - Adding balloons made it feel festive!

Princess Letter Board for Birthday Party

Letter Board

Reusing a letter board (do we ALL have one of these now-a-days?!) is something that is so easy for any and all parties - Just change out what it says to match the theme!

Fresh Flowers

My absolute favorite thing to have at parties is fresh flowers. Now, I know flowers can be expensive, however, I get mine at Trader Joe's! I set my budget to $25 or $30 and get everything I need to make around 5 vases full of flowers - They brighten up everything and I love them so much!

**You'll also see I added some CANDY NECKLACES at every table - All the girls were wearing and eating these throughout the party - it was such a fun add-on!

Princess Party Table Decor

This antique-looking utensil holder was perfect for her theme (It's been in my basement for ages!) Wands in one of the cups added an additional whimsical flair!

Games and Activities for Every Inner Princess

Make Your Own Wand

These adorable wooden wands were perfect for the kids to decorate and let their creativity shine!

*The plate, basket, frame, and DIP TRAY were all things I had around the house and repurposed (my fave!)

Princess Temporary Tattoos

OK, maybe this isn't the MOST princess-y thing, however, I LOVE adding a little tattoo station to any party. Tattoos are super inexpensive and it is honestly usually the crowd FAVORITE activity (who knew?!) All you need is water, a towel or sponge, and a scissors (with the tattoos of course!)

Dress Like a Princess

The girls all LOVED trying on the dresses and accessories! I used dresses that my daughter had already owned, and borrowed a few from friends for the day!

This set of princess accessories was inexpensive and easy to add to the fun! https://amzn.to/4gb7lIi  (Affiliate link).

Food & Drink Fit for a Princess

Princess Party Menu

I use these gold frames for EVERYTHING. I bought a pack of them years ago and use them for all parties. They are so universal and I can add my CANVA created menus and signage to them. *Tip: Get them in multiple sizes!

Princess Party Food

Pretzel Wands

Doing cookies all day, it was so fun to do something a little different~ Adorned with different color melted white chocolate, sprinkles (Yes! Those are unicorn horn sprinkles!) and glitter, these pretzels were a huge hit!

Princess Party Food Table

Princess Sandwiches

Serve up bite-sized sandwiches using cookie cutters to create the perfect shapes. Meat & cheese OR Strawberry cream cheese sandwiches were both crowd-pleasers!

Princess Party Drink

Infused Water

I love infused water - It looks great and doesn't add a bunch of added sugar. Here I have Strawberries and mint!

Princess Cake & Cookies

Doing any dessert yourself is always going to save money (not time! LOL) And I love DIYing my food and dessert! I loved the way these cookies turned out for my adorable princess.

I luckily have an amazing friend who also does cakes! I pay full price for her items, but I am happy to do so because they taste AMAZING and I also know I am supporting an wonderful human being! Throwing this inexpensive crown on top was the "icing" on the cake! You can grab it here: https://amzn.to/47hRpA1 (affiliate link).

(Don't mind the little messiness at the bottom - my brother DROPPED THE CAKED on the way to the table LOL)

Princess Party Favors

No Party can be Complete without Princess Goodie Bags to take Home!

I always start building my items for these as soon as I know the theme of the party! I add candy, stickers, and fun princess-y items! Feel free to be as creative as you want here!

Where to Find Your Enchanted Supplies

Remember, it's the magic you create, not the price tag, that makes a party truly unforgettable. For the items I could not re-purpose or find on the "sale" shelf, I use Amazon.

Here are a few items that I purchased or recommend on Amazon:

*Balloons are fairly inexpensive. I like to buy an arch kit and build the day before - They last a really long time, so you can do other more pressing things the day of the party :)

*This letterboard is different than the one I have above. Having a more neutral one like this link will allow you to use it for all parties, not just the super girly ones ;)

Princess Dress Up Accessories: https://amzn.to/4gb7lIi

Drink Dispenser: https://amzn.to/47kqPWU

*I use two drink dispensers for almost all parties. I have infused water in the picture above and usually have a themed drink or lemonade in the other.

Wands (to decorate): https://amzn.to/4ek7EyD

*As pictured above.

Princess Plates/napkins: https://amzn.to/4gbTRvU

*Don't forget to clip the $2 off coupon!

*You'll see I reuse a TON of items that are more neutral for future parties. I love using items that can be re-used again!

*I love this pack because it has all different sizes. I like some items to be bigger than others (i.e. the food menu) and other items need to be smaller framed items.

Princess Temporary Tattoos: https://amzn.to/47nSeXV

*$6.99 for more than you'll ever need!

Princess Goodie Bags: https://amzn.to/3AZOlwr

*I loved that these were reusable bags all the girls could keep! I often see them carrying their snacks or cute little things in them to this day! :)

Princess Goodie Bag Fillers: https://amzn.to/4cYX0wn

I start with a pack that has some themed items in it, then add inexpensive candy, stickers, and other items I have picked up along the way for these. **EXTRA budget tip: Keep a bin of these items! I add stuff to this bin all the time that I find in the clearance sections at stores - It feels SO good to use something that I purchased so cheap so long ago.
